Web Dashers practice & troubleshooting

During a level, P toggles practice. In practice, Z places a checkpoint and X removes the latest one. If something breaks, compare a familiar main level with the affected online level before clearing any data.

Build a short practice loop

Open a level on the creator's site and press P during active play. In practice mode, press Z to place a checkpoint and X to delete the latest checkpoint. Those checkpoint shortcuts are conditional on practice being active; pressing them from the main menu is not a useful test.

Choose a checkpoint before the section you want to learn, with enough space to see the next obstacle and prepare the input. If you keep returning to an awkward position, delete that checkpoint with X and use an earlier one. A checkpoint immediately before a collision can make a section feel impossible even when the wider approach is manageable.

Repeat a short stretch until you understand when to press and release. Then try it from farther back so that the lead-in and portal transitions are part of your attempt. Finally, leave practice and try the normal route. This is a suggested learning routine, not a claim that practice progress counts as a normal completion.

Expect practice to have rough edges

The developer still describes practice as an early implementation. If a checkpoint restores an unexpected state, move it to a simpler part of the level and test again. Note whether the issue starts around a mode change, speed portal or slope. These details make a report more useful than saying only that practice is broken.

R restarts an active level. Before using it, decide whether you are testing one checkpoint or starting a fresh attempt: changing several things at once makes the result harder to interpret. The wiki does not promise that checkpoint state survives a reload or a closed tab.

The game is stuck loading

Keep the creator's tab open long enough to see whether the loading bar moves. A slowly advancing bar and a frozen page are different symptoms. Check that your connection works, then try an ordinary reload once if loading has stopped. Avoid rapid repeated reloads while the game is still fetching its assets.

Use a current browser and check whether an extension or a restricted network is interfering. If you compare with another browser, remember that it has separate storage; your existing saves do not automatically follow you. On a managed device, follow the device or network owner's rules instead of trying to bypass restrictions.

Do not begin by clearing all browser data. The game uses browser storage, and removing it can discard settings or locally stored work. Preserve anything important through the save or export options actually available in your build before considering site-specific data removal.

The picture moves, but your key does nothing

Click inside the game, close any open text field or menu, and try one documented input. A search box with keyboard focus will receive typed characters instead of a gameplay command. Compare Space with a mouse press or touch press, one at a time.

If a familiar main level responds but a specific online section does not, stop changing browsers for a moment. Inspect the mode or object at that section and compare it with the known compatibility limits. If both fail, write down the browser, device and input you tested before making another change.

Main levels work; online levels do not

That comparison narrows the symptom to online loading or the selected level. Try the exact numeric ID and remove text-search filters. If several IDs fail while main levels remain playable, wait and retry later rather than deleting local work. This wiki does not show live service status.

If one level loads but looks or plays differently, check whether it relies on an unsupported mode, object or slope interaction. The fact that another player completed an edited version does not establish that your copy is equivalent. Keep the ID with any screenshot or video you use in a report.

Send a report someone can reproduce

Check the developer's issue tracker for an existing report first. If yours is new, include the author-site address, level name and ID, browser and device, the steps you took, expected behavior, and what happened instead. Mention practice, Noclip or other settings that change the attempt. A short recording of the exact section is more helpful than a long unexplained session.

Remove personal information from screenshots and recordings. Never include passwords or account recovery details. Corrections to this guide belong at our contact address; defects in the game belong with its developers. If the goal is a leaderboard record, review WBDL's current allowed settings and recording rules before recording a full attempt.
